What it Means in the Long Run

July 09, 2010 - Miami, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES - epa02243342 LeBron James (L) joins with Miami Heat Dwayne Wade (C) for a laugh as Chris Bosh tries out his Spanish while they greet fans during NBA basketball team Miami Heat's 'HEAT Summer of 2010 Welcome Event' at the American Airlines arena in Miami, Florida, USA, 09 July 2010. The Miami Heat reached an agreement with LeBron James to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers, and sign with the Miami Heat. Three superstars are going to try setting aside their egos to win each other a much desired championship. Former Finals MVP, Dwyane Wade, lured his friends and new teammates to South Beach with the prospects of not just a championship team, but an eventual dynasty. I'm not sure I see it that way.

Look at the players in their first six years in the NBA...they were all the go-to guy on their team. They haven't had to share the ball, let alone the limelight for a season. They all played together in the Olympics, but they weren't being paid for that. The big question to me is going to be how they'll coexist. They all took a pay cut to play together, which is a good sign for Heat fans.

Another pressing concern is how they're going to surround themselves with NBA level talent. It seems as if Mike Miller has already agreed to terms and will be a good option off the bench. They've also got a solid big man in Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who should play alongside Chris Bosh pretty well.

Now every veteran who doesn't have a ring is coming out of the woodwork it seems to want to sign with the Heat. Penny Hardaway and the more current version of Penny Hardaway, Tracy McGrady, are wanting to sign with Miami and feel like they can contribute to a championship team.
